I've never written anything else where the soundscape is just as important as the landscape. The Foxfires Trilogy was inspired by my times living in the Finnish Arctic, and as a result, the playlist features several Sami joiks similar to what I've heard in person. It's important to note that joiks themselves can be highly personal and aren't 'songs' in the traditional sense; those which are here are to evoke the atmosphere of the place and culture which left such an impact on me. A similar reason exists for my inclusion of kulning and throat singing, as my characters don't belong to any specific ethnic groups.
As a result, I've split this playlist into two volumes. The first follows the story sequence of all three books, mainly from the perspectives of Tuomas and Lumi, though a handful are Lilja's perspective. The second conjures up something similar to what you might hear if you found yourself in the Northlands.

If I included all the musical influences on the series, the playlist would be ten hours long, so to further get a sense of the soundscape I used to create the Northlands, I recommend the following other artists who were often playing during my writing:
Mari Boine, Elin Kåven, Jonna Jinton, Sofia Jannok, Frode Fjellheim, and Angelit.
